Jorge Mascarenhas was born in Boston, Massachussets. Since the age of seven he was selling his famed elementary school comic called "Ferinhas (Little Beasts)." He grew up in three different places (Brazil, Mexico and US) and majored in illustration at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Jorge's paintings are distinguished for muted colors contrasting with patterns and rich textures. His major artistic influences are Nordic, Post-Impressionists and Japanese artists. His work has been honored by the New York Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, American Illustration, 3x3 Magazine and Illustration West Annuals. In addition, he's been awarded a Silver Medal by Creative Quarterly and included in Lüerzer's Archive 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide book. He currently resides in Alameda, California.
