GONCALO VIANA illustrates a beautiful series for Público, Revista 2 Supplement called “Joaquim Carreira, the aviator priest that sheltered refugees during the Nazi occupation of Rome.” This was a cover and two full page illustrations for a featured article about Joaquim Carreira, a Portuguese priest that resided in Rome during the 1940’s. The article describes the harrowing months during the Nazi occupation of Rome, in which he helped countless numbers of Jews and Anti-Fascists by sheltering them inside the Pontíficio College.
