Here’s a terrific series of illustrations GONÇALO VIANA did for Expresso Magazine. They illustrate an account of the day after news broke that Saramago had won the Nobel Prize. The opener is Saramago arriving in Lisbon, the second one has Saramago with then Portuguese Prime Minister, António Guterres (now UN secretary general) and Culture Minister Carrilho, and the third shows Saramago and his wife, Pilar del Rio.
