Apparently in the summers in Indiana bats are seen everywhere but by fall they vanish. We learned in the next issue of Indianapolis Monthly that the bats hibernate in caves or abandoned mines during the winter and are even protected by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources — because if disturbed bats under stress can be fatal.
