HOT TOPIC! Data Centers!!! We’re going back to “The Data Center Debate” and what makes it so volatire. In Milwaukee, “the controversy over a proposal in Midtown suggests even the smallest such facilities are nonstarters.” The article illustrated by #lcmartist Ryan Johnson for Milwaukee Magaizne was for an editorial on the proposed micro data center in the vacant Midtown Walmart on W. Hope Avenue that was rejected by residents, but experts say similar projects will keep coming as demand for cloud computing, data storage and AI grows. The debate highlights a clash between the need for more digital infrastructure and community concerns about Big Tech’s influence, control, and use of our resources.
