SUSANNA HARRISON | SPOTLIGHTING OUR FEMALE ARTISTS IN MARCH CELEBRATING WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH!

March 12, 2021    Susanna Harrison

Celebrating Women’s History Month! Please meet our next fearless female #lcmartist SUSANNA HARRISON!  Susanna works across a number of design mediums for clients across the globe, but her true passion is illustration. Her drawings are bright and her color-filled stories are primarily inspired by the urban environment and the countercultures that pop up around her. Her unique style has been used in branding, textiles, packaging and stationery. Susanna lives and works in Australia and is often seen walking between coffee shops with her sketch pad in one hand and her kids in the other. Her work exudes her bright personality and fierce attitude and devotion to all she puts her heart into. Lets hear more about Susanna!

My name is: Susanna

Home is: Australia

I’ve been an illustrator for: 10 years.

Why did you want to be an artist? I have been drawing my whole life – I feel I was just meant to do this.

The best thing about being a female artist is: knowing the future is female!

My typical work day looks like: kids up, dressed and fed; lunches made and walk them to school; get a coffee at the beach as head  back home to draw; try to snatch some break time in the garden; rush to pick up the kids, then homework while cooking dinner and usually more drawing while everyone sleeps

What inspires me: Everything! From fashion to nature and all the bits in between…the more fun and colour the better

Who inspires me: My beautiful, creative and crazy girlfriends…and Moira from Schitts Creek of course!

Favorite Artist: Frida Kahlo

Favorite Author: currently it’s Yotam Ottolenghi as I’m devouring all his amazing cookbooks

Favorite Movie: Chocolat

Favorite Music:  80s women – Madonna, Whitney, Tracey Chapman,  Salt-N-Pepa…

If you had to describe yourself as a color, what would it be and why? Hot Pink – fun and happy

Most people don’t know that: I was a foster kid and grew up without parents in various families and group homes.

3 fun facts about me are:

1. I played the White Witch in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

2. I’m a good gardener

3. I’m a terrible speller.

Biggest pet peeve: Bad manners

If there was one place I could travel to right now it would be: Morocco

My biggest accomplishment is: Getting a university degree after growing up in the broken foster care system

I’m most grateful for: the love of my husband and children everyday
