Ze Otavio | 3 Last Portraits For Car & Driver Magazine

November 27, 2012    Zé Otavio

ZE OTAVIO wraps up his last 3 portraits for “What I’d Do Differently” column for Car & Driver Magazine. We would like to say thank you to Darin Johnson, Car & Driver’s creative director, who let Zé loose on this 2012 monthly assignment. Zé enjoyed illustrating this column tremendously, it was 11 portraits of people who love cars and racing and was great to explore their world, to read about some funny and dramatic histories, to know theirs stories and learn about their passions. In the past, Zé has never paid too much attention to cars and racing despite the fact that his father and uncle are both race car drivers. Now he’s got something to say about the subject!  Maybe one day he’ll get another opportunity to illustrate cars and drivers or bump into someone that likes racing or cars and finally have the opportunity to say that he’s illustrated some of the greatest racers in the world.

NASCAR on Fox’s man in the pits since 2001 hangs up his microphone at age 70. But don’t call this journalist and former race-car-driving college professor “retired.”
