Here’s a lovely portrait by DAVID JUNKIN for Sojourners of the late Ernesto Cardenal MartÃnez. Ernesto was a Nicaraguan Catholic priest, poet, and politician. He was a liberation theologian and the founder of the primitivist art community in the Solentiname Islands, where he lived for more than ten years. Ernesto passed away at the age of 95 on March 1, 2020.
