MICHAEL BYERS | NEW POSTER ART FOR THE 31ST SEATTLE JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL ROOTS + REELS
February 28, 2026 Michael Byers
Excited to share this wonderful new poster art by #lcmartist Michael Byers for the 31st Seattle Jewish Film Festival (SJFF)— Roots + Reels.
Long before Seattle became the vibrant city we know today, Jewish pioneers helped lay its cultural and communal foundations—brick by brick, story by story. Frame by frame, film by film, year after year, the Seattle Jewish Film Festival tells the stories of Jewish life, resilience and creativity to film-loving audiences across the Puget Sound and beyond.
This year’s “Roots + Reels” Festival explores how rootedness in family, faith, traditions, spiritual and cultural practices and traditions can sustain us in trying times. Beginning Opening Night with the French megahit ONCE UPON MY MOTHER, many films feature how mothers and maternal figures ground society—as caregivers, family anchors, institution builders, storytellers and underestimated, unsung heroes whose acts of derring-do are finally told and celebrated. Pioneering Jewish culture + cinema in the Pacific Northwest for 31 years, SJFF blazes trails for Jewish film, filmmakers and conversations, building bridges between communities and shining a light on voices that inspire, challenge + unite us. All are welcome so if you live in Seattle, go check out this great film festival.
